Held in February, the Young Artist Concerto Competition showcases the best young musicians in grades 9-12 from Kentucky and surrounding states. Two divisions- one for pianists and one for instrumentalists- hold auditions to choose a winner who receives a scholarship and the opportunity to perform with the PSO at one of their season concerts. This competition is held in conjunction with Murray State University and sponsored by Coca-Cola and Jackson Purchase Energy.
2013 Young Artist Concerto Competition
Piano and Instrumental Divisions
Award:
One performer from each division will receive the following:
1. $1,000 cash prize
2. Invitation to perform as a guest soloist with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra during the 2013-2014 Season.
3. Music Scholarship to Murray State University (if eligible)
Qualifications:
Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school (grades 9-12) and a minimum age of 14 by January 1, 2013
Application Date:
Application must be submitted by January 1, 2013.
Finalists from each division will be selected to perform in a final competition at Murray State University on February 3, 2013.
