Summer Music Camp

The third annual Paducah Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Camp features large and small ensemble group training for upcoming 4th – 12th grade students. The last day of camp will feature a Summer Showcase Performance for friends and family of participants.

Instruction will include:

American Fiddler Exploration (New this year to camp)
Elementary School Vocal/Choral
Middle School Vocal/Choral
High School Vocal/Choral
Middle/High School Wind Ensemble
High School Jazz Ensemble
Group Piano (non-beginner)
Guitar
Percussion

Tuition:

Early Bird – Deadline April 30 $125
After April 30 $175

Application for Scholarship deadline is April 30, 2015. This is a separate application, which can be found here. Notification of receipt of scholarship will be made to participant by May 30, 2015.

Upon registration, all participants are required to pay a non-refundable $25 deposit. At this point the participant can decide to  apply for a scholarship or pay the rest of the tuition; by April 30 for early bird registration pricing and no later than May 30 for full regular tuition. Under outstanding circumstances one may call the office at 270.444.0065 to discuss non-payment of deposit.  

Reimbursement policy.  Upon dated written notification from the parent that the student will not be attending the Camp, the following will apply:

  • Received by the PSO Office by May 1 – partial reimbursement of 75% of fees
  • Received by the PSO Office by May 15 – partial reimbursement of 50% of fees
  • Received after May 30no reimbursement of tuition fees are allowable

Program Specific Information:

Strings:

  • Beginning Strings (rising 4th & 5th grade)  – participant has little to no experience with violin or other string instrument
  • Middle School strings: participant must indicate a specific instrument. Participants in this level are required to have  a minimum of one(1) year of instruction on particular instrument. Must bring own instrument.
  • High School Strings: participant must indicate specific instrument.  Must bring own instrument

Vocal/Choral:

  • Elementary (rising 4th & 5th grade)
  • Middle School (rising 6th-8th grade)
  • High School (rising 9th – 12th grade) Only High School students must indicated their vocal designation. (SATB)

Instrumental: Must bring own instrument.

  • High School students may choose either wind ensemble or jazz ensemble; in addition entry into the orchestra may be available to those who indicate this prefer
  • All middle school students will be placed into the wind ensemble track.

Piano:

  • Half day program for middle & high school students
  • Must have at least 1 year of instruction
  • Must choose a second program/discipline to complete the full day

Guitar:

  • Half day program for middle & high school students
  • Must have at least 1 year of instruction
  • Must choose a second program/discipline to complete the full day

Percussion:

  • Must bring own snare and bell kit

 Middle & High School students who choose the Vocal/Choral, Wind Ensemble, Percussion or String programs may choose to split the day between that and another instrument. (May choose from piano, guitar, percussion, choral, wind ensemble, or strings)
